Kanchan Vel

Kanchan vel also known as Maloo Creeper is the largest climber found in India. It is native to the Indian Subcontinent

-It grows at a rapid rate. Climbing to the top of the trees and even bringing them down by their weight.

-It bears white flowers that turn yellow when old and are mildly fragrant. Its flowering season is from April to June.

-This plant is used for multiple purposes such as food (seeds), medicines (seeds and leaves), umbrella making (leaves), and furniture (stems). It’s also a larval host plant for Plains Cupid butterflies.

-There is a huge Kanchan Vel in the Empress Botanical Garden and it has put out a show by flowering right on time! Come check out this magnificent beauty.
