Yellow Orchid

-The yellow orchid tree or Pili Kachnar in Hindi is a species of Bauhinia. It is a small tree or a bush with many stems which doesn’t usually grow beyond 4m in height.
-It is found in South Africa, Tropical Africa, India and Sri Lanka. It is majorly an ornamental plant and due to its fast germination rate is also found roadside, on riverside, etc.
-The flowers are pale yellow even though the flower bud is pink. The flowers are rich in nectar and pollen attracting a lot of butterflies and bees.
-Roots and fruits are highly medicinal and used for several purposes, from diuretic to aphrodisiac.
-There is one flowering individual of Yellow orchid in the Empress Botanical Garden, Pune.
