✅Tamarind, Chinch in Marathi, or Imli in Hindi is a very common tree with massive trunks.
✅The name derives from Arabic Tamar-Hindi meaning “Indian Dates”. Now Tamarind is both its common name and genus name.
✅The flowers are pale yellow with purple or red veins. They are edible with a tangy taste to them. The leaves and bark of this tree are also edible.
✅Tamarind pulp is widely used in Indian cooking, especially in South India. Throughout Southeast Asia, Tamarind fruit is used in folk medicine.
✅The tamarind trees are now blooming in great numbers in the Empress Botanical Garden, Pune.
